Please, do not hesitate to contact me with specific questions. I'm here to help!

How does this whole experience work?
Before your session:
Once you get in touch with me via email or phone, we'll work on figuring out the best session for your needs. We'll pick a date and I'll have you send me your $50 deposit to officially reserve your slot. I'll also ask you to decide on whether or not you'd like to purchase a disk with your high-resolution images and printing rights. If not, you will still be able to print your photos directly from your client album, which does not expire.
If you are inquiring about a wedding, we'll meet to discuss the details and take care of the contract in advance. There is no additional charge for a wedding photo disk.

The session:
We'll get the boring stuff (paperwork, payment) out of the way immediately when we get to the location we're shooting at. Then, we get to the fun part!

Sessions are designed to be relaxing and enjoyable. I want to capture who you are, and I can't do that if we're not having a great time!

After your photos are edited, I'll post them in the following places:
Password-protected, printable album -
Public, non-print enabled album -
Facebook -

Your photos may also be posted on Pinterest or Twittter.

What should we wear?
Simple is good. Solids and simple patterns work best. For groups, try to use coordinating colors. Longer sleeves are typically more flattering.

Makeup and Hair:
Matte, muted colors are best. Matte lipstick or a simple lip moisturizer will photograph well. Be sure to use powder to conceal shine. Do not stress about acne! Touching up skin is part of my editing process. Consider using a little extra hairspray to tame flyaways. Bringing a small kit with you is not a bad idea! Make sure your nails are to your satisfaction as well.

We want to capture YOU. Don't make any drastic changes to your appearance right before your session, unless documenting the change is the goal! If you have glasses, please keep in mind that glare or Transitions lenses will affect your photos.

How many outfits changes can I have?
The number of outfit changes depends solely on time. Usually, a maximum two outfits per hour works well. We can discuss this in detail before your session.

Is there a place to change?
This depends on location. If possible, dress in layers so that you can change in the open. Let me know if you have specific concerns about this and we can plan for it.

Is there a limit on the number of poses I can have?
Time is the only limitation on number of poses.

Can I bring props?
Absolutely! Let me know ahead of time if you're bringing something (or someone). This will allow me to envision an artistic way to incorporate your items. Pets, sports gear, t-shirts, and items relating to other hobbies are all great!

What about bad weather?
No worries! If things turn tragic, we'll pick a new date. If you're feeling adventurous, we can even experiment in inclement weather. It'll be your choice. Don't worry about clouds - they're our friend!

Do we have to use a pre-approved location?
I am definitely open to adventure! If you have an idea for a new spot to do photos, tell me. If you're doing your own location scouting keep these things in mind: Shade - this is the best light for portraits. Make sure your spot has lots of it!
Variety - does this place have lots of options for backgrounds?

I want to go somewhere farther away. Will I have to pay more?
A travel fee (mostly to cover gas) may apply if your preferred location is more than 15 miles from Swartz Creek or Ypsilanti.

How many photos can I expect to end up with?
There are many factors that influence this. Here are some general numbers:
Mini Session - no less than 10
Basic Session - no less than 25
Deluxe Session - no less than 50

How long will it be before my photos are done?
Processing takes 4-6 weeks. I will notify you when your photos are done.

How does printing work?
With purchase of photo disk:
I will include a file on the disk containing a print release form. Some businesses will require you to have this form before releasing your photos to you. You will have the digital files to send to the lab of your choice. I am not able to provide technical support for printing at these labs. If something is not working with your disk, please contact me.

Without photo disk:
You will be able to print photos directly from your Client album and have them shipped to your home. Please contact me immediately if you need help with this process. Your information is secure and will never be shared with unessential outside parties.
Specific directions for printing your photos and print pricing can be found at the left side of the page under "printing".

Can I use my photos on social media?
I will post some of my favorites from your session on my Facebook page. Please tag yourself and your friends in them! If you use the photos as a profile or cover image, please do one or more of the following:
1. Include a link to my website in the caption
2. Tag my Facebook page
3. Make sure the watermark (that'd be the logo) is fully visible

Other places online:
Include a link back to Do not crop the image and don't remove the logo. Please, just ask me if you have questions about the use of your photos. I appreciate your efforts to respect my art!

Can my photo be published in an article or blog featuring me?
It is an honor for my clients to choose a photo I took to represent them. You and the group in charge of the publication will need my express written permission to legally use the photo. Just contact me and I will be happy to send the proper documentation.

Note: this also applies to my non-portrait (Art) photos.

What if I want to see a photo edited differently?
Curious about how that one will look in black in white? See something you're not quite happy with? Just let me know! I'm more than happy to accommodate any reasonable editing requests. Please do not edit your own photos. This violates copyright law.

How do I make sure I'm not violating copyright?
I will provide you with specific information at your session.

What if I'm not happy with my experience?
I would hate to know that something didn't quite go as you had hoped, and I will do everything in my power to work with you to find a solution. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any complaints. My clients are my priority; not profits.

Why do you do this?
I fell in love and never looked back. I believe that I have been given my access to tools, my creativity and ability, my passion and compassion as gifts. I love to serve my clients and honor my creator - the original artist - in the process.
